What data I collect and why

When you subscribe to my email newsletter

If you sign up to receive email updates via the newsletter form on this site, I collect your email address. This is processed by MailerLite (see third party services below). I use this information solely to send you updates about new posts, photography notes and occasional tips. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email I send you.

When you enable browser push notifications

If you opt in to browser push notifications, OneSignal stores a unique browser identifier to send you notifications when I publish new content. No personally identifiable information is stored beyond what is necessary to deliver the notification. You can withdraw consent at any time via your browser settings.

When you leave a comment

If you leave a comment on a blog post, I collect your name, email address, and the content of your comment. Your email address is not displayed publicly. Comments may be held for moderation before appearing on the site. Your IP address is also logged by WordPress as a spam prevention measure.

When you contact me

If you contact me via the contact form or by emailing hello@gailhphoto.co.uk directly, I will use your information solely to respond to your enquiry. I will not add you to any mailing list without your explicit consent.

Automatically collected data

When you visit this website, standard technical information is automatically collected including your IP address, browser type, pages visited and time spent on the site. This is processed via Google Analytics (see third party services below) to help me understand how people use the site so I can improve it.

Data retention

Email newsletter subscribers: your data is held until you unsubscribe.

Comments: held indefinitely unless you request deletion.

Contact form enquiries: held for up to 12 months then deleted.

Analytics data: retained as per Google Analytics default settings.

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated. Continued use of this site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
